i really like my Dorcy 3 million CP spotlight, but the battery life is like 15 minutes, and im affraid the plastic lens will melt in the heat. So i am trying to get an idea of buying a SSC-P7 from dealextreme and modding it into the light, but still retaining its focus. I havent seen much people even speaking to mod a spotlight. im not good at soldering or anything of that sort, but i could get my dad to help(BTW im 15).

A P7 light is really bright but even my aurora with it's 2 inch reflector won't throw like those million cp lights, I get only about 500 feet of throw. You may be happier with a pob/12v hid spotlight.

The Dorcy has a pretty large reflector so if you can get the LED to the right focal point, you should get a pretty narrow beam compared to most P7 beams.

You'll need a heatsink, a driver, and of course the LED. Thermal epoxy will also be needed.

What voltage and capacity is the battery in the Dorcy?
