i have recently found a rather cheap method to fix a grip ring for my Pelican M6 with a cut-out from a chair stud. those with a base and sleeve types, best is it's rubber. comes in varies sizes too. so there may be a chance there's one size that fits your lights, just cut the base away and there you have it - a grip ring. :grin2:

another idea more costly is finding those hobby DIY miniature model car tyres....

any other low budget ideas to share?

I got a very high pressure o ring from a john deere tractor on my 6p. it looks killer big fat and stubby. It gives the light contrast due to the yellow color too!

but does an O-ring tend to move about due to its tubular diameter?

i have also thought of using O-rings but those for plumbing does not stay in place even for lights with knurling. i think the light body needs a little flare to hold the O-ring in place.

anyway i am just sharing my low cost alternative.

Quad profile O-rings, AKA Double Seal, stay in place nicely. The profile looks like this:

You can alternate them with regular round profile O-rings, and even stack round profile ones on top for more height.

I use a rubber grommet from the hardware store. They come come in various sizes and cost less than $2. The groove is perfect for a GITD o-ring too.

the Surefire O-rings are not really that cheap. the cutouts from chair studs costs well under a dollar each. hee...

rubber grommets from hardware stores seems like another good idea.

Here are my cheap solutions.

Obviously the first pic is the cheapest way...

2 O-rings butting up to a external retaining ring used for lanyard.

LeefGrip on 6p is probably the best grip tool i've ever used. All for $12!

Well there are the Surefire Combat Rings, three different types for a total of $10 (you get all three versions)

There is the detonator. I dont like the leef grip because it looks kinda goofy on a black SF.
