Think I'll be picking up the Handyman sometime. More basic useful tools I might need in a pinch without the extras that I doubt I'd need taking up extra room. Actually, I just suggested to my wife that it would make for a good present (she was asking for ideas the other day).

I'm currently using the Spartan Lite.

Silver Alox Farmer with an ARC Premium attached in my frp for about 5 years.
We don't let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns?

So the Handyman doesn't come with a Philips screwdriver, and the Craftsman doesn't come with a corkscrew, but they both come with 3 flat-head screwdrivers.

OK. I settled on the Ranger. The pliers made the knife a little too bulky to carry around. But other than that it's the same as the Handyman. Still enough tools that I might need or want in a pinch, but EDC-able, and with a nice classic SAK appeal.

My EDC is a Victorinox Swiss Army Soldier Knife, the new 2009 model based on the one handed trekker.
I find it more useful than a regular knife, but it's still got one handed opening and a locking blade unlike most SAKs.
I would gladly swap the serrated blade for a strait edge, and the wood saw for scissors... I'm surprised thay don't make more variations of the one handed trekker.

Yeah, the newer Swiss Army Soldier Knife is going on the Christmas list this year. A little more of a "tactical" utility knife. I saw a picture somewhere around here of a glow-in-the-dark SAK. Might be kind of cool to pick one of those up too.

Mine is the Explorer. I like the phillips location better. I screwed a mini screwdriver in the corkscrew and a push pin in the hole in the handle.

I only have one and it is the camper.

I have been looking at the bantam and cadet in alox since they are a lot smaller. Do you guys know where I can find a bantam in alox?

I EDC the tinker in my pocket for work. I need a phillips screwdriver, a little knife but not much else. I also keep a little black classic SD on my keys for the scissors.

I keep one of those black 'trailmaster's in the garage for the big knife, serrated knife etc

    cheers

My favorite are definitely the 111mm SAKs Soldier 08 and Forester. The Alox Farmer comes in second best.

For me a SAK is a compromice between size and availible tools.

My most carried SAK (lately) is alox Cadet.
It's small and flat enough to be in my pocket without really noticing it's there and it also feels sturdy enough when used.
If it had scissors it would be even better!
I also have an Electrician that is even better when used but bigger and heavier. I really like that knife but a little to big for EDC for me.
Acually my little rambler is probably enough for the tasks I use my EDC knife for.
I also have a black Compact that is pretty good - if it was 84mm it would be great.

    Favorite?
At the moment the Cadet I'll guess.

My favorite is my Blue Swiss Alox Farmer. If they ever come out with a full size Alox knife with scissors, then that will become my new favorite.

That looks like a nice knife. I own a huntsman, but the one you're receiving has a few more tools like the small and phillips head screwdrivers.
But the huntsman is my favorite of three different swiss army knives I own.
Not too big, not too small. A handy small task EDC.

Zombie thread, back from the dead... I got an alox cadet a few weeks ago, and it's wonderfully compact but still useable. My first alox, and I can't imagine going to 3+ layers for EDC in my pocket. I'm going to try an electrician next.

The cadet is a great EDC knife. I rotate between it and a Leatherman Squirt PS4 for my usual EDC. Carry it in the 5th jeans pocket.
Didn't like the keyring attachment so I did grind it off.

The Electrician (and Pioneer) is also great with a sturdy blade and the small blade is very useful for some tasks.
It is however much bigger and heavier than the Cadet and for me not suitable for jeans carry EDC.
The Pioneer has a keyring attachment and when I carry it I use a P7 clip.
The Electrician does not have keyring and I have it loose in my pocket at work.

My favorite is the Champion Plus, but my everyday carry is the Climber.

    Classic SD.
Each key chain I own, then my wife & daughter, have one.
I've also donated far to many to security agents at airports & Sporting events when I've forgotten I had them with me.

By and far my favorite SAK is the Huntsman. I've owned three of them, the first two were stolen. The corkscrew has saved many a party when I was in college; now I use it mostly to loosen knots when I'm trying to untie them.

My only complaint is that the first Huntsman that I purchased had a thin, long file blade. This blade was removed and did not appear on the subsequent two Huntsmans which I owned.

This tool is with me all the time except when flying or in a government office building :-(

Ha-ha! Have done that four of five times myself. :-)

Not sure I can narrow it down to one model but I do like the big Swiss Champ with all the tools. Also like the Officers model.

With me, aside from the Classic SD on my key ring, I carry a Compact in my uniform shirt pocket at work (my version is different, as mine does not have a writing pen or straight pin). Away from work I carry either a Explorer Plus or a Climber (with micro screwdriver and straight pin added). I have other models, but these are the ones I'm currently using.

All I have is the Champ, 1984 version. I was just a kid and I was wondering why anyone would get anything but the biggest. Maybe the smallest as a cheap gift, but the in between sizes seemed weird. Now I get it and I don't even carry it any more. Maybe if I went camping I'd take it.

Tinker with the Phillips tip screwdriver/no corkscrew. I've had it for around 30 years, maybe longer. I bought it new for around $8 or $9. It was before they put split rings on their knives.

I dropped it on concrete a few times and both scales were damaged. I found out Victorinox will replace them free so I had that done. They also replaced the toothpick and tweezers for no charge and sharpened the blades.

It's my knife for every day carry.

I really like a Pioneer and Rambler combo but lately I've just been carrying a Cadet.
