This may have been covered before, but I have not been able to find a thread on it.

I am looking for a P4 5 mode (hi-med-low-sos-strobe) flashlight that uses a single 18650, but I want to replace the P4 with a Luxeon III Red 140 lumens LED seen here: http://www.luxeonstar.com/luxeon-leds-by-color-red-c-54_55.php?zenid=qh8vcged9fkaj3veesi1bq57b0

What is the best flashlight for this mod. Preferably I would like to just replace and solder a new star. All the ones I have found use a drop in module or are 1-2 mode.

Anyone use a Red-Orange Luxeon III? Is is more red or more orange?

I've never heard of a 5-mode board that topped out at 1400mA. You could buy a 5-mode 1050mA AMC7135 board and piggyback another AMC7135 chip on, increasing all the levels by a third. That would give you what you wanted.

I think the AMC7135 board would work, but the chips would be burning off a good chunk of voltage.

Would I be able to use an MTE P7 5-mode and do the swap. On high it's 2000mA, but I will only be using it as a strobe/sos.
