Have had a Fenix 10440 flashlight (L0D?) on my keychain for over a year of heavy use, and find it indispensable. No complaints about the Cree LED or Ultrafire battery.

But the aluminum tube is getting that creaky feel. I've lubed the threads with silicone grease, but it's still got that cheap feel. :sick2: Also the supposedly 'mil-spec' anodization is just about worn off and looks ugly.

I see discussions on the Ti lights, but too much dough, so am curious about stainless. Must be a 10440 or smaller in diameter and length as it goes on my keychain, and must have a Cree LED or better.

Any suggestions?

Take a look at the Peak lights. They are available in aluminum, brass, SS and Ti. They only have Luxeon and SSC P4's though.

limited for 10440 battey - i think its going to be a DX one
but if your happy with less brightness and using alk or nimh batt then...

+1 for peak lights

id recoment stainless steel - its heavy but it has a quality feel
and will last a long time

as for the heat issue - yes its a poor conducter of heat
but that dosnt stop people spending $600 on a titanium light -
which will generally be worse at conducting heat

peak lights dont run the LED at toasting currents
but enough for decent runtime and brightness

ive also got a few of the stainless steel dx flashlights
again there not driven at high currents and for a AAA light
the battery really isnt capable of providing led frying currents

anyway

peak has a sale on luxIII lights - if your after super brightness then you would be disapointed. if your after rugged quality tool get a peak
