Hi all,

I recently purchased a Surefire 6P in gun metal gray from a fellow CPFer and was slightly let down by the plastic ring holding the glass lens in.

It looks to have indents with which it could be removed, but i don't want to damage it. Is there any aftermarket replacements out there? or does the surefire 6PD come in gun metal to replace it with instead?

I had seen a SS bezel on lighthound but it appeared to be the entire head.

I could always make one as a last resort...

Cheers

I think you need a special tool to unscrew the bezel ring.
Not only that but I think the ring is "glued" in with Loctite.
So that means you have to boil the head to melt the Loctite
before trying to unscrew it.

EDIT ... found this thread, some guy in Singapore sells a tool to do the job
Look Here

Paypal sent... i'm starting to dislike internet shopping, it's so easy to spend money when it's not passing though your hands!

He was very helpful, a couple of e-mails and it was done. The total cost was $28 with shipping to the UK! I just hope it gets here...

Thanks for the link. Will post back when it gets here, maybe even with a picture :naughty:

Cheers

I guess this begs the question: Why?

A metal retainer will probably scratch the lens when you tighten it.

why? That's an easy one... To make it look pretty!

It may well scratch the lens but only at the point of contact I.e. At the edges

Shall soon see when it arrives

Well I received the bezel ring and key the other day, I have to say the machining and de-burring wasn't the best, but I've managed to sand the edges down so they don't shred everything they touch! I intend to use a buffing wheel at work to round the corners further to make the spikes less menacing.

But to the point (no pun intended), it looks great! much better than that pesky plastic ring and the key worked perfectly! and now for a pic

So thanks for the link! hope you get fixed up too!
