After many many month of delay it's finally here. The ultimate host for the ultimate light. Providing the most real estate (7300 mm2) ever for a flashlight at the cost of < 1 lbs vs a MagD.

The original design have been tuned during production to reduced weight and ultimately improved balance and user comfort.
The macho (according to JimH) thermal fins not only improves look but also increase thermal convection vs conventional heads.
The body/head thread is MagD standard. So it can use all MagD and variant.
The battery adapter will allow any variation of series, series/parallel and parallel connection providing limitless voltage possibilities.

For further info please refer to the design & discussion thread for Colossus & configurable adapter

Nice looking light Jonathan!

It's obvious you've put a lot of effort into the design. Congrats on seeing it through to completion.

A couple of questions on the head:

What colours are available in the 4" head?

What is the size of the "led opening" on the reflector?

Beautiful Work Jonathan!

I'd LOVE to see one of these monsters turn into a HID thrower, it's got the perfect huge reflector!

In an unbelievably silly question...

How tough would it be to transplant the socket/bulb from a The Torch into one of these monsters? I know that there'd have to be something done about the switch (Maybe one of AW's regulators?)...

Jonathan,

What options are available for high current/voltage switches, either from you or from other sources.

Thanks guys for the complements.
I'm getting my parts together to build a light for the next shootout :D

thomashct: body and head are natural HAIII for this first batch. Reflector minimum openning is 0.500" (12.7mm), but it can be bored to any size needed.
AlexGT: No C adapter yet. I think any MagD-MagC adapter might work.
karlthev: PM inbound
Sable: That's a 2s job of removing the switch from the original Torch (with a 5/16" allen key) and installing it into the Colossus.
william lafferty: I would not recommend putting cell wiring for 20V that way (mixing S & P). You'll end up with reverse bias and ultimately damaging your expensive ($10) cell.
These adapter will allow you to connect batteries in the following format.

representationgb4.jpg

The part that is configurable is the interconnecting tabs.
If configured in series and with the use of dummy cell(s). It can produce the following voltage
3.7, 7.4, 11.1, 14.8, 18.5, 22.2, 25.9, and 29.6V

If configured in parallel you can only get 3.7, 7.4, 11.1, and 14.8V, but that's twice the capacity & current draw.

Being an LED guy you would want both series, series/parallel, and full parallel option to ease the restriction on your driver.

Is 100V Max & 40A Max enough for you Jim.
If so I'm (We are) working on it.
