I am thinking about converting my Surefire 6p to a 9p with a extension. I have a M60 drop in. How much additional runtime would the third primary give me? I know it want work with RCR123. Would I have any noticeable increase in output?

It will work and give you a longer runtime. You will not see any noticeable increase in brightness. I have not personally done a runtime test but it is my understanding that adding the third battery should give you 45 minutes more.

You get a pretty good increase. I cannot quantify it since I didn't time my last run but it seems like 50% increase in runtime. Definitely more than reported times for 6P.

A 2x18500 body from either FiveMega or Leef looks exactly like Surefire 9P body, or 6P + extension but can use 2x18500 Li-Ion cells for greater runtime than 17500 cells. Almost as long as primaries.
*And* you can stick in 3x123 cells, which is really important at times also, as a backup.

Can you send me a link on these?

Surefire 9p with a Malkoff M60 = excellent combo.

I sometimes use the A19 1 cell extender and use 2x17670s in it. Guilt free, bright and versatile light.

And of course you can pop in an incan module such as the LF EO-9 or SF P91 and you're sittin' pretty in both the LED and Incan camps.

I have a FM 2x18500 body, I haven't timed runtime at all, but I would expect double the runtime of a normal 6P with 2xRCR123. One 18500 battery has twice the capacity of rechargeable 123's. In a 9P you could run 2x17500 which would give you 2200mah capacity instead of 1500mah from 2xR123.

Either way you will get more runtime but no more light.

I understand that 2x18500 has slightly lesser capacity than 9P with 3x123 cells.. maybe 15 mins less.

Anyway, comparing with RCR123 is not fair as they have a poor capacity to begin with.

Here is Leef 2x18500 with Z49 tailcap, M60 and AW's protected cells.
