Fenix L2D, P2D & TK11 Beamshots

I took some beamshots of these fenix lights last night at 3-5am last night (could'nt sleep:mecry:).

Camera settings were fixed at ISO 200, f/4, 1/50 sec, white balance at fluorescent ( may account for a slight change of tint colour i noticed in the pics), camera set on tripod, Aperture priority mode.

I forgot to take a control pic :oops:, will rectify those in my next beamshots + outdoor beamshots soon!

Edit: Ill be underexposing the next indoor beamshots between these 3 so that they can be compared more clearly

Nice beamshots. Are the L2D and P2D the Q5 models?

Yup they're the Q5 version. The P2D was running on RCRs and the L2D on 2500mAh rechargeable AAs. This accounts for the slightly brighter hotspot on 'low' mode for the P2D as compared to the L2D

Control shot is a black screen so i did'nt bother posting
Fenix TK11 is set at general mode for the 1st 3 pics
Fenix P2D is run on RCR123
The bezelled head of the TK11 elevates it while it is lying flat, resulting in a seemingly bigger hotspot

Have you also noticed that hotspots seems to be larger at photo than live? When I see your beamshots of the TK11 the hotspot seems to be at least or if not even larger than the hotspot I can see from my TK10, though the TK11 has a narrower and more focused hotspot.
I also remember my first reaction when I tried my Tiablo A9 the first time. The hotspot was THAT small in comparison to what I had seen at beamshots!

Yup the hotspots always seem bigger. There is a fine line between overexposing and underexposing and i cant seem to get a balance between them such that the sidespills dont appear too dim and the hotspots dont appear too bright.
For example, if hotspot is made the priority in determining the brightess, the sidespill will appear too dim as the camera underexposes for the hotspot even in manual mode. If sidespill is made the priority, the hotspot will appear too large and bright. I guess photos will never give an accurate perception of the brightness or lux of a flashlight. The most useful application of beamshots are comparison photos between two flashlights which can be used to judge their brightness or throw relative to the other.
