What\'s a good charger for NiMh of all sizes?

I finally need to get myself a fast, smart charger for all my NiMh AAs. I would also like to get one that will charge AAA, D, and maybe even C. What's a good one for around $40?

CCrane QC's going for 40...
Vanson 1HU's going for 45-50...
Rayovac PS3's around 30-40...

Radio Shacks and Energizers are all under 40, but aren't as flexible chargers as above...

Maha's C777PlusII's good, but it's 80...

I haven't found anything to strongly dislike about my C Crane Quick Charger. In fact I rather strongly like it!

It was around 40 give or take.

Can you charge 1 battery at a time with this charger? And is this the charger?

Stangster, yes, you can charge 1 battery at a time with the CCrane... But unlike the Vanson or Rayovac PS3, you don't have independant channels, so if you put in 2,3, or 4 batts, all of them are charged in parellel and the charge time is dependant on the least capacity batt...

FX, thanks for the info. I saw a link for the PS3 for about $29 bucks shipped. Should I spend the $10 - $15 more for the Vanson? Which one's better?

Between those 2, I usually find that the Vanson charges better than the PS3. By that, I mean I get a better charge topoff from the Vanson (with my 8Ah Ds) than from the PS3... I think whichever you choose, it shouldn't make much of a difference.

Re: What\'s a good charger for NiMh of all sizes?

Hello there,

Rayovac's PS3 or PS4 (i think that's the number)
looks really good to me, although i havent actually tried
it yet.
The nice thing about it is that it charges three types
of batteries:
NiCd, NiMH, and Rechargeable Alkalines.

I havent seen another charger that will do all three like
that, and that has got to be a big benefit.

Has anyone actually used these chargers here yet
and can give us some first-hand user info on them?

Take care,
Al

The Accupower 20 which may just be a relabled Vanson, handles all three.

Re: What\'s a good charger for NiMh of all sizes?

There's almost no difference between the Vanson and the Accupower. I suspect "RAM" is just a fancy way of coining "regular alkalines", but I'm not sure if Rayovac's brand of batts can be used in this guy. IIRC, their rechargeable alkalines aren't exactly regular akls...
