Since my first positive experience with the Fenix E20 I got an idea: The E20 is nearly half as bright as the TK10. But what happens if putting 4 examples together? Yes; 4 times nearly half = nearly twice! I asked my good friend Sylvester, which is a carpenter, and has equipment to help me. My idea was to bound 4 E20 along a wood cross, and I gave him the measures. The result was great. Using recheargable 2700mAh NiMh cells I now have a flashlight with nearly twice the brightness of the TK10 AND twice the runtime! Unlike one E20 this 4 E20 creation also can stand safely up and down.

I will post some pictures. Unfortunately I don't get along with my digitalcamera and have hard to get the optimal light tint and focus...

LMAO, I dont think taping 4 flashlights together constitutes a homemade flashlight.

Sol-leks,

Not really; maybe I would it's more correct to say "home-mounted" or similar...:)

whats more impressive to an inocent bystander, one bright as heck torch or four strapped to a wooden cross where you need to turn one on after another...?

abarth_1200,

Surely, it isn't the most estethical and it has it's drawbacks. But I think it's a simple way to get a bright flashlight which can use recheargable batteries and isn't to large sized. And it's fun because I realized an idea. Also I think it's quite few flashlights who beat this creation when it comes to the combination of brightness and runtime in this size.

I kind of like it. Just paint the wood black and it will look better. :)

Now that would make one heck of a bike light. One could change the angle of the 2 top lights to shoot farther out than the bottom 2.

Thanks Mockingbird,

I am considering placing some black plastic electrical tape around it, maybe it will be better...

Bob4apple,

Yeh, it has to be a great flashlight! ;)
Did I forget to say that it's pretty bright? Now I experience a really bright spillbeam...
The total light output is corresponding to a 40w home light bulb, while the TK10 corresponds to a 25w.

One thing I think would make a nice enhancement on your setup would be to use something like the Nite Ize AA minimag clamps. Then you could easily clip them onto the cross mount.

This thing has four redundant systems making it extremely reliable!

Great example of innovation. Don't let the naysayers get you down!
