Just curious, has anyone tried removing the Luxeon emitter from the star base? Is it possible?

Excellent! Now I just need to develop the fortitude to rip apart a $30 LS.

Thanks Graham

I made the mistake of fryin' a 1W star board LS with 9V... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Had some practice slitting it, and it's quite tricky. It's hard to file the bottom without a good gripper, and a nail filer for me took an hour or so to lacerate that bottom enough for it to break.

For those without the proper machinery/equipment, it could be quite a challenge...

Slitting is unnecessary. Clip or unsolder the leads, and bend the aluminum board with a vise and pliers or even 2 pliers. they "pop" right off. (Gotta admit the first time was with my first 5W and scared the hell outta me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )
