EDC suggestions?

Evening,

Been a lurking some time back - just revisited and boy have these LEDs changed!

I want to get an EDC.
Looking for:
- Small and simple design.
- Prefer a clip to secure in pocket.
- High output for defensive use of light (not looking for the 'attack' bezel - just a bright blinding beam if needed)

I'm torn between a CR123 or 14500.
I've been reading the pro's / con's some.

Been looking at the NiteCore; either the D10 or the EX10 (w the optional clip)

Opinions on CR123 vs 14500?
Any other suggestions on lights besides NiteCore without getting crazy on the cost?

Cr123s are more common? but have the ol' explosion risk, which, in my opinion is less likely, but it's still a factor to consider.

don't they have more storage, too?

if you're just getting started w/lights, I recommend the Romisen RC-N3 Q5 version from shiningbeam.com

it can use 2XAAs, or a CR123A batt, rechargeable or not.

Does that come with a clip?

The EX10 or D10 with a clip would be a fine set up. It's mainly down to battery preference. In a pinch would you want to be able to throw in an AA, or CR123? I run rechargable AW R123's in my EX10, and AW 14500's in my D10.

I like that Romisen (esp $), but want adjustable lumens for flexibility and something more subtle.

Plan on going rechargeable either way.
Already have a Pelican M6 as a nightstand light and Streamlight Tasklights in the gloveboxes (all CR123's obviously)

So I already have a few lights configured as 123's.
Just been using standard Battery Station batteries.

For the EDC I'm considering I plan on going with rechargeables; keeping spares charges and changing as needed.
Given rechargeable lithium: is the RCR123 format or the 14500 format better?

With the D10 you get a slightly large light with the ability to use AA batteries incase you need them. But the EX10 is smaller.

IIRC the 14500 battery has a bit more capacity then the RCR123 batteries.
