Curious P7 behaviour...

Just because I can, I took the reflector out of my MTE SSC P7-C high/low light and used a magnifying glass to see the dice on the wall.

Two of the dice are noticeably brighter than the other two.

When I use the wet finger test for direct drive I see the same thing.

Metering all the likely places shows no bad soldering, so it's a LED issue.

I suspect it's why this light has a sort of flaky beam.

Still in P4 fashion it doesn't have a distinct spot, just a bright center smoothly going off into bright spill. A lot like the one P4 I have it is distinctly blueish!

The Ultrafire MC-E LED has 4 equally bright dice! And very nice tint!!!!

different Vf,
some of the die get more, the other less current
no wonder

the only good way of wiring led is in series
have I typed this already this week :rolleyes:

i have the same in my earlier p7 before the binning ie wide range(700-900 lumen)

my new d bin(800-900) have all of them even in 3 samples.

coincidence? or tighter tolerance hence more specific range.
