Been away for a long time... Was wondering what lights these days would be a good replacement for a SL PP 4aa Lux?

Things I liked about the PP:
AA batteries
Fully Regulated, no dimming
Bright
Good throw
Long battery life
Tough

Is the PP 4aa Lux still a good choice these days? Whats better?

Like... everything? lol The toughness is about the only thing any given cree/seoul equipped light may not match, but check out fenix for a good low cost option, the latest surefires, surefires with malkoff dropins, and a everything from 400+ dollar custom lights to 15 dollar cheapies from overseas. Unless you need a specialized dive light or safty rated light, nowadays the question is "how bright, how much throw, how big, and what are your favorite batteries." Something is available that fits the bill.

Edit: For a quick peek at the lower end of what's around these days, check out the 100+ lumen Coleman Cree 2xAA lights at walmart.
