I carry a few fauxtons with me wherever I go and pass them out like candy. I even leave them as tips at local restaurants.

I would not get the Maglite Soli. Approximate lumen, around 1.5-2. Approximate runtime to 50%, 11 minutes.

Fenix E01, approximate lumen, around 5-7. Approximate runtime regulated 8 hours.

These are actual numbers for both the Soli and the E01.

If you want something closer to the Soli runtime wise, look at the Fenix L0D-CE Q4/LD01 on high. Around 15 minutes(a bit more) to 50% output but with an output of 60 lumen vs the 2 of the Soli. Even at lot output it still has around 9 lumen of output(over 5 hours of runtime on low).

The L0D/LD01 is only one example.

There is also the Liteflux LF2 and LF2X, Tiablo MA1, Lumapower Avenger, and probablu a few other AAA powered ones.

What price range are you looking at?
    How much runtime?
    How much output?
    What battery?
What about multimode?(low output, medium output, strobe etc.)

There's also this if you want cheap. Runtime should be similar to the Soli but with a lot more output, probably around 50 lumen.

I wrote a great review of the Maglite Solitaire a few years ago. You should consider it

I've been thru lots of Mag Solitares (sp?) and have found them THE disappointment of the Mag line. Relatively dim light and not durable.
Battery Junction sells a small "squeeze light" that is light weight, durable and gives adequate light for fumbling my way from the car to the old house. And it is CHEAP.

Check out the Photon ReX. A lot of output and recharges from standard batteries!

I agree. I and my wife have had them on our keys for at least 5 years. We're on our second set. The anodizing after 4.5 years doesn't look so hot anymore. They got retired. And we now have the newer Premium models. I sent one of the older ones in for repair. It had a battery leak inside and the light would no longer run. I didn't expect full replacement, but Arc sent me a Premium model without asking. And the one I sent in wasn't a Premium. Now that's good service. Definitely made me consider buying the Arc6.

I carry mine on an old Berkley MiniClip, clipped to my key ring. That way I can remove it if needed, and not have to hold my keys while using it. It also makes a decent makeshift headlamp clipped to the rim of a baseball cap.

Fenix L0D. Lives on my keys, used the different modes countless times.
Its better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

I like my Fenix P1D-CE. there are quite a few good keychain lights on Deal Extreme in the $15-20 (US) range that compare with other such as the Fenix P1. some are multi-mode and have Cree.
Just search in DealExtreme.com under the Cree section.
    good luck.

That Solitaire will give you a headache too when you trip and fall in the dark with it.
Seriously though, do many LED's give you a headache, or have you maybe encountered a poor pulse-width modulated light? I don't like detectable flicker, that would give me a headache too.

Though there are brighter, the Peak Matterhorn 3-LED variant still keeps me happy. The finish has been very durable with the usual wear at the edges.

The Mag soli's...ugh. They are pretty but using matches comes pretty close. Only you won't have the worry of burning your fingers.

ARC AAA or Peak AAA. If the white led gives you headaches, the Peaks come in various colors. The red or green would probably be ok. The only incan I know of that would be of any use as a key light, still a little big. Would be the Tek-tite Splashlight.

I recommend the ArcAAA, it's has the smallest form factor for a AAA battery, giving you plenty of output and runtime.

If you wish to spend less, than the Fenix E01 is the way to go. 1/3rd the price, does the same job, longer runtime, but slightly larger than the ArcAAA.

Both these lights uses 5mm Nichia led. I think it's the most rugged light to use on the keyring, which is subjected to alot of abuse.

I'll put a strong second on this post. I just got a couple of Arc AAA's and am infatuated with them!

I doubt many people recommend Arc($29-$50 for 5-10 lumens) instead of fenix LD01. ($45 for 10-80 lumens).

I started LD01 SS last week and luv it.

Only one thing that I don't like is twist-switch. I can't turn it on in one hand.

I have lots of L0D's, the predecessor to the LD01, and still think of my Arc's as the ultimate in tininess, lightness. It's a personal choice, but already been recommended by five CPF members in this thread and it's just possible that the OP may find one to be to his liking. For what it's worth, I got both of my Arc's for about $25 each if I recall, with no regrets. Great lights all, and the choice made by the OP will hopefully be the best choice for him, regardless of whether it's the best choice for the rest of us and all we can do is offer suggestions.
