I was looking around to find a deal on ebay and stumbled upon this. They claim the Inova X5 puts out 82 lumens!!

Does this happen a lot on ebay, with sellers completely making up stats?

Yes especially with a specific seller selling CREE Q5 P60 dropins claiming something physically impossible within reasonable means

but to keep this a nice thread, yes it does happen.

Of course it is completely made up. Actual output is around 30 lumen(probably a bit less then 30).

"Precision optical system provides tight, focused beam."

Damn I was hoping that this was to announce a new 82 lumen X5.

Sounds like they took the lumen rating of an old XO3 and put it on the X5. The newest X5 is more like 40 lumens, not 30. I'm pretty sure it has been updated recently as my new one is brighter. The review at flashlightreviews.com is of the 2006 version with Nichia CS l.e.d.s. I think my new one uses Nichia GS l.e.d.s.

Does anyone know if they added a regulation circuitry to the X5?

I do not believe so. I am even unsure of what LED's are employed... Still CS?
Seems to be a paucity of information regarding X5 improvements.
I am prepared to expect imminent X5 product retirement soon. Just my gut feeling

It is such a nice light though, still is. I'd love a regulated version. Oh well. Can't have everything. :)
