I was wondering if anyone experienced any negative results after dropping a magcharger with Terralux 300MR onto pavement. I'm thinking of purchasing the led drop in but don't want to keep buying new leds if the unfortunate occurs.

Dropped a mine a couple of times by accident (only from about waist high) onto tar and concrete with the exact same fear. So far everything is fine.

Good dropin.

A custom job (no dropin and not reversible) with a modified switch, custom heatsink and P7 led is brighter but a lot of work and more expensive.

Yeah but you get to retain the focus ability of the Mag

The donut hole of the P7 does not give you much focussing room. The Terralux dropin is has no donut hole and is so much brighter compared to standard maglite you will not miss focussing abilities.
