"Sales Thread Closed" 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

ALL SALES ARE CLOSED FOR NOW

Please read through this thread again, as i have changed some info
and added the option of a 1000 lumen Edc :)

I Have now made this a Sales Thread
Since i have your names in the interest list below,
Please Double Check your options that you posted in this thread.
And send me a PM on Exactly what you want.

Small Review By CPF Member "Floodlight" in post #33
https://www.candlepowerforums.com/posts/2775775&postcount=33

Just like the Mini-Edc sales thread, there will be a Pre-Pay.
The cutoff time is February 10th for when i order the parts.
And just like that sale, The parts take 3-4 weeks to hit my door.
I will build up the lights and send them out as quickly as i can :poof:
I will order a few more like i did with the Mini-Edc sales
to cover anyone who missed this one in time to place an order.

Here are some pics of the light...

I don't have a P7 Edc built yet, so here are some Indoor beamshots for an MC-E warmwhite
Camera Settings: f5.6, 1/10th Sec, ISO400, Manual W/B on ALL Pictures
It is pretty hard to capture the "Proper" color of the Warmwhite,
So in your Mind, make these pics a bit cooler-looking :)

Warmwhite MC-E Indoor Shots
Control, Low, Med, and High is the Order here.... 5ft from a White Sheet that i use for my projector.

Cree R2 in a "Thrower" DX light... http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14601
The light is actually a bit more "Blueish" in real life... Driven at 750mA
IMG_3374.jpg

The reflector hole will have to
be bored out for the P7. The only dimensions that change are the
led hole itself. The P7 and MC-E have a slight donut in the center.
Nothing to worry about unless you whitewall alot.
Keep in mind that the reflector is not very big in this light, So the
Throw will be about 30ft. Anything after that is pure flood.

Make sure you look over ALL the
options before making a selection.
The Base price for this light is 120.00
Shipping is Included on the Edc with up to
2 sets of batteries and a charger. Anything
more than that weight will be cost extra.
Just add 2.00 to the total to cover more stuffs.
Shipping insurance of 100.00 is included.
International shipping is extra outside the
continental United States.

Pick the options you want below.

Driver Options:

The light comes with your choice of driver .
Pick one line on the driver list, And if you want the
upgrade for that particular driver, Please add it to
the Base Price of the light.

Option 1 W/ Mode Memory
5-mode driver with Hi, Med, Low, Strobe, SOS
It has an approximate output of 1000mA
It can be upgraded to 2400mA for an additional
Price of 10.00. This driver and its upgrade is based
on a 7135 Buck Regulator. So, The output will dim
as the battery depletes. The voltage range is 3-4.2v
I am using P7's at a 3.5-3.75v and MC-E's at 3.3-3.4v
So as the battery gets down to .2v over the voltage
of the Led of choice, the output dims.
If you want to upgrade the driver to 3800mA that
will output approx 1000 lumens with a P7 or about
800 lumens on an MC-E, Please add 25.00 to the base
price of the light (145.00 total). There is quite a bit of
work involved to install the boards in the driver pill.
3 Seperate boards are required to make the light 3800mA
This option has been tried with a P7 And MC-E allready.

You can use a Li-Ion Protected, or an IMR. The light will get
pretty hot in about 30 sec on high (which is DD on this driver)
when running the Led at 3800mA, But thats why there are
med and low modes :)

Option 2
Single Mode 1400mA Driver with a Voltage range of
the same as above. It can be upgraded to a 2800mA
driver with an additional board. This combo will work well
with AW's IMR Cells by limiting the current to 2800mA.
If you run an IMR without this, the battery would
drive the led about 5000mA and would get Very Hot,
Very Fast :poof:.. A 2-Mode Reverse Clicky can be
added for an additional 5.00. This will get you a full
output on one mode, and a low 20 lumen output for
the second mode. Since this is a Mechanical switch,
you can opt for the Low or the High output for the
first click On. Off,1,2 is the Sequence for the clicky.
Just let me know what you want.

Option 3
Direct Drive with a Single Mode, No Driver.
This would have approx the same output as option
1 with the 3800mA driver package.
I would not suggest using IMR cells with this, Only
Regular "Protected" Li-Ions. The IMR's would Drive the
Led at 5000mA and get waay too hot. If you wanted
to add a 2-Mode Clicky, Please add the 5.00 fee. This
would get you a Full Direct Drive, and a second Low
mode of 20 Lumens. Like the Driver option above, you
can opt for the Low or the High to be on the first click.
Off,1,2 is the Sequence for the clicky.
Just let me know what you want.

Option 4 W/ Mode Memory
5-Mode Boost Driver with a 1000mA output.
High, Med, Low, Strobe, SOS modes.
The Max current cannot be upgraded.
The voltage Range is 0.9v-4.2v
This driver will allow the light to use a AA battery
at a reduced output. The Quantities are very limited
because DX may only have a few. If i cannot get
them, I will let you all know. Please Pick a Second
choice for your driver option in case this one is
not available.

Keep in mind, Any drive current above 1400mA will
make the light pretty warm.. Above that, and you
will need to run it in your hand, or a glass of water.
You have about 5 mins when driving above 1400mA,
Before the Water cooling method is needed.
This rating is Subjective. Some users have a higher
threshold of heat tolorance than others.

Led Options:

P7 Coolwhite
MC-E Warmwhite

Tailcap Options:

Any Color you want for the tailcap button
Choices are, Orange, Black, G.i.t.d, Blue, Lime Green

Tailcap Led Glow Option:
A small 1.8mm led can be added to the inside of the
tailcap to Backlight the Button. It Consumes 3mA
all of the time. The tailcap does not do a "Lockout"
So you cant turn it off unless you remove the cap.
This option is available to all driver choices Except
the Direct Drive version in Option 3
The led Tailcap works best with Orange, G.i.t.d, Blue, Lime Green.
Option Price is 15.00

Batteries And Chargers:

Trustfire TR-001 Charger 10.00 (will charge 123-18650 batts)
Trustfire 2500mA PRotected 18650 set of 2 10.00

All new Silicone O-Rings will be installed.
An Extra set will be also be provided. :grin2:
Lanyards are limited, so ask me if you want one.
Since this light does Not come with a watertight
front lens, I do it for you. Norland Optical adhesive is
used to seal the lens to the body of the light
making it permanently affixed. If you break the lens,
Please let me know via PM. I will replace it for a
small fee.

AA battery adapters are in the works as an option
to be used with the Boost driver in option 4.

I will add more choices as i think of them..

Payment Info:
Keep in mind that this is a Pre-Pay sale.
So i cant order parts to make the light
unless you pay for it. The payment deadline
is February 10th. So you have until then
to make your selection, and pay for it.

I Accept Paypal, Checks, and Money Orders.
PM Me for my address. If you send ANY form of
payment, Please include your options, Address,
and CPF Name so i can keep track of everyone.
I can add as many more people to the "List" as
needed. So Everyone else who wants one,
yer welcome to buy one.. No limits on Quantity.

If there are a Bunch more than the 20 that are
allready on the list and payed for, The shipping
might take a bit longer for DX to fill. So i will
do in batches of 20 until the orders are filled.

Please add the 4% paypal fee and send to:

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

OMG! I hope you make these Saberwolf! I PM'd you during the holidays about a Jetbeam host for a P7 mod and I think this light is a much better idea ESPECIALLY with your driver choices.

Put me down for 1 definately...with so many different driver choices you might even put me down for 2.

Here are the ones i'm having a hard time deciding to be my first choice.
1) Option 1 as is: Nice and simple but what does approximately 1000ma mean? Is it brighter than option 4?
2) Option 1 at 2.4A: I know it gets hot but I always have the lower outputs to use, and besides it would probably be used only as a "hey check THIS out" feature. Can the outputs be defined like the Jetbeam? Can you tell me more how the voltage ranges affect runtimes? Maybe approx runtimes?
3) Option 4: Nice to have the AA option for emergencies but would i regret not having the 2.4A option?

If option 1 at 2.4A fits my needs then maybe a 2nd flashlight isn't necessary, however option 2 at 2.8A would be cool as a novelty flashlight :)

Sorry for all the questions; I figured asking them all now would be better than spreading them out throughout this thread. Besides, its 1:45AM right now and I tend to ramble on this time of the night too. ;)

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

Count me in, too. With the 5-mode driver, what are the output levels for low & medium? Also, is there a possibility of a 3 mode(Lo-Med-Hi) driver? Or at least a 5-mode with Low first instead of Hi? No matter what, I'll be getting at least one of them.

Count me in for two. The first light as option 1 with the 2400mA upgrade and a led blue glow cap. The second light as option 2 with the upgrade to 2800mA/2 stage switch/led G.i.t.d cap. Both lights with MC-E 5a leds. Btw what color would the flashlight be in?

I can't see the pics from my remote location access to CPF so I'll have to wait until I get home to see what this may look like. The options are interesting though....

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

I'd be interested in Option 2 upgraded to 2800mA.

Q1. What is the estimated lumens output at 2800mA?

Q2. What are the dimensions of this light?

:)

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

I'd be interested in Option 1 with a P7 with 1000mA Output..

Q1. What is the estimated lumens output at 1000mA in high mode

Q2. What would be the approx runtime at this output..

This would be an ideal size for a bike helmet light..

Thanks..

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

I'd be interested in Option 2 upgraded to 2800mA.

Q1. What is the estimated lumens output at 2800mA? P7=900 lumens, and MC-E is about ~700 lumens

Q2. What are the dimensions of this light? I took a nice pic for ya above :)

:)

I'd be interested in Option 1 with a P7 with 1000mA Output..

Q1. What is the estimated lumens output at 1000mA in high mode Approx 350 lumens from a P7 or 300 with an MC-E

Q2. What would be the approx runtime at this output.. I dont know the Exact runtime yet..But
if i go by calculated data, at roughly 1200mA from the battery= 2.2hrs

This would be an ideal size for a bike helmet light..

Thanks..

My ideal would be 3 modes:

High; 700 lumen
Med; 200 lumen
Low; 20 lumen

:D

I wish :) If you find me a nice driver, then i might add it to the options. :poke:
Thats what i said! :grin2:

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

Final Decision made on what I would like to go with;

Option 2 ($125), With 2800 mA board
MC-E.
2 Mode clicky, low first ($5)
I don't need a lanyard, but do need something to fasten to.
Lit tailcap option - Orange ($15)

$145 + 4% pp

$150.80 total

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

what would the warranty on the light be?

how bright is a p7 driven by 1A (1000ma), probably just a touch brighter than a sscp4 at 1A right. basicly 4 sscp4's at .25A so more efficent right? that's cool but for a p7 light i'm buying it to be bright bright. if not going over 1A it doesn't seem worth the premium over a 1A sscp4 light to me. my .02

if we could get it to be driven at 2.4A under option 1, what would the low and medium modes be. any chance of an infinite variable setup?

i didn't understand option 2. if we opted for 2800ma due to having 2 driver boards, why would it run at 5amps if we didn't use a protected battery. almost seems like it's direct drive. also that mechanical clicky, is that an efficent way of getting low or is it more like a resistor where we're losing some power due to heat produced?

that all being said, a little bit of information later and i think i would sign up for one. (not officially yet due to price but give me time) this will really be the first mass produced form factor p7/mce light and i hope you go forward with it.

Option 3 with 2 mode clicky
Hmm, really like the "Tailcap glow option" you put on my EDC, so looks like Iwould need to change my option above – looks like cannot get it with Option 3 (would probably go with option 1 with upgrade to 2400 ma)

Might go with the MC-E for a change. Would finalize when/if you go for these, count me on for one. I don't need a lanyard, but do need something to fasten to.

Re: Feeler for 18650 Edc with P7/MC-E and Multiple Driver Options.

what would the warranty on the light be?
To be honest, i have never had someone ask me what my warranty is?
I am not trying to be difficult, But people know me to fix defects
pretty fast that i caused. I dont like unhappy customers..
The Golden Rule Applies here :grin2:

how bright is a p7 driven by 1A (1000ma), probably just a touch brighter than a sscp4 at 1A right. basicly 4 sscp4's at .25A so more efficent right? that's cool but for a p7 light i'm buying it to be bright bright. if not going over 1A it doesn't seem worth the premium over a 1A sscp4 light to me. my .02
The P7 and MC-E are waaay more efficient at that drive current than
a P4 led. And it puts out more light to boot. Thats My .02 :nana:

if we could get it to be driven at 2.4A under option 1, what would the low and medium modes be. any chance of an infinite variable setup?
No infinite setup is available. Low is Approx ~50 lumens, Med ~200.
So the modes are "Visually Spaced".

i didn't understand option 2. if we opted for 2800ma due to having 2 driver boards, why would it run at 5amps if we didn't use a protected battery. almost seems like it's direct drive. also that mechanical clicky, is that an efficent way of getting low or is it more like a resistor where we're losing some power due to heat produced?
You misread it, I said that if the Driver was not in the light to regulate
to current, and you used an IMR batt, The Led would see about 5amps.
It has nothing to do with adding a second 1400mA board for a 2800mA total.
The second mode with the clicky is a direct-drive with a 470ohm
resistor. It is the Most efficient way to drive an led on low output without
wasting much power in heat output.

that all being said, a little bit of information later and i think i would sign up for one. (not officially yet due to price but give me time) this will really be the first mass produced form factor p7/mce light and i hope you go forward with it./quote]
