I don't see any reason why not. That configuration should give you just over an hours run-time. The tailcap spring will need to be modified as the batteries will be almost an inch longer than the 2 D's.

The spec sheet for the Terralux states 4.5v to 24v DC input with a constant 12w power consumption.

Okay done. I took some pvc to fit just over the cr123's,put some foam wrap around the tube because it still rattles a bit. getting the cap on took some effort without modding the spring or cap. I think I might flip the spring over so there won't be so much tension on the cap.
It WORKS! it's an ugly but bright beam. as bright as my XSTAR P7 running on two cr123's. There's no rattle and everything seems fine so far. I think I my have my new truck light.
