Driver&LED Question?

I just got a cree lamp on a star and a 5 mode driver. i want to install these in a mag light. I have 2 questions

1. Can I remove the lamp from the star, it's an R bin Xlamp from Cree
if yes, how?

2. How do I change modes on this driver?

I removed a luxeon emitter from the star just by briefly touching the soldering iron to the leg of the emitter. It came off instantly

Yes, you'll need to "reflow" to remove it from the star since it's soldered on. If you've never done this it may not be that easy.

I remember seeing a video that someone one posted where they did it using a stove. IMO that's risky if you don't know what your doing but looks like it worked out pretty good. Too much heat can very easily damage the emitter, mostly likely resulting in the dome popping off.

How is the mode changed on the multi-mode drivers by the flashlight?

I think you have to specify what driver you have as it varies. Doesn't it say in the product description where you bougth it?
You usally switch them on and off to go into next mode.
The ones on DX usually have a 2sec memory, which means you need to switch it off in less than two seconds to enter the next mode, else it will go inte last used mode.
