Hi,

I recently made a holder for a 2C torch to that allows 6 AAA batteries to be used. The challenge is the bulb although likes up is not very bright.

I'm using alkaline batteries that are fresh, but the bulb nevertheless run yellow, the question is can a 6V bulb be run from AAA's .

Also would putting a lower rating bulb in like a 5.5V in work better?

It's not the voltage, but the current. AAA alkaline cells are not really suited for delivering as much as 0.5 amps. Try some AAA NiMH rechargeables like Eneloops instead. They will have no problem with that current and much more. Also check out the resistance of your battery holder. That could be contributing to the problem as well.
