Probably a noob question, but thats what I am. I noticed my Fenix PD30 has a textured reflector. But I read that it is also available with a smooth one.

A smooth reflector will give you more throw, but it allows ugly artifacts to show up in the beam. A textured reflector (also called orange peel) will create a wider, less intense hotspot, a smooth beam without/with less artifacts, and a smooth transition from hotspot to spill.

In general, smooth reflectors tend to have greater throw at the cost of artifacts in the output beam. A textured reflector generally has less throw but produces a more uniform beam.
