I used two flashligts for night skiing but felt unhappy with its short burntime especially in high mode.

Here is a custom tailcap with a cable for suppling external power. It's unfinished, just a prototype.
The switch is to put on the battery case.

I would appreciate very much for many suggestions.
thnx.

p.s. To be updated with a help from Jetbeam.

Can you tell me more about how you made the tail cap. I have two Trustfire flashlights with P7's on order and plan to use for night skiing as well. I'd also like to mod these for an external battery pack. I was thinking of using a Y cable connected to each light.

I made custom tail cap with a white board marker.
It's so nice to see someone using flashlights for night skiing.:twothumbs

I have a similar idea, lathe down a few cm off of the U2 tailcap and screw it onto the head directly without a body then run a wire through a sealed boot and to a battery pack.

Re: Update

The concept model turned into a real one.

It consists of AA size dummy and modified switch module.

The switch module was disassembled and copper unistrand wire was properly placed in accordance with polarity.

All contacts were made by mechanical locking, not by any lead soldering so that it can be restored to the original switch module.

After the test,

the external cable was soldered to the copper wire and insulated.

A board marker cap was cut and snuggly fitted onto it.
