I was surprised when i read that it runs on a single AA or 14500 battery.

Looks promising! I was trying to figure out what a "Metal tracery tail cap" was (thinking it was something magic) and it looks like it's just a metal button instead of a rubber boot. Same info also at: http://www.tiablolight.com/tl1.htm

Wonder if this has some kind of shortcut to low and high modes like the Nitecore lights have? I like the ramping but I really like how I can jump directly to low or hight with the Nitecore EX10.

I think it's a clicky, not a Piston Drive like the Nitecore. It does have a similar look to it though.

it could be something along the lines of the MCU controlled lights that Lightflux has.....the switch is under the metal switch.

Isn't that what the nitecore defender infinity already does? Looks almost the same too.

Am I reading this correctly, are they advertising a single AA light that will produce 230 lumens?

Ok... Never have had a Tiablo, but that is the best looking power button i have seen... Love the universal power symbol.

Edit: Why does this flashlight look like unbranded? I don't see Tiablo nor TL-1 engraving anywhere.

The head is wayyyy too spiky for me, may hurt you while kept in the pocket. but overall the light looks good.

Oh yeah... without a doubt it is completely unusable with that 'crown' but I still like the power button

    Maybe with the 4.2V 14500 Li-ion battery?

A malkoff M30 will do 230 off an RCR14500. 47s should clarify if those numbers are with NiMH, Alkaline, Lithium Ion or Lithium primary.

Probably pre-production units, if they come with a sheath/holster then it wouldn't be too much of a problem with the "spikes".

Probably be good if they have the option to change the head to a non-tactical head like some other torches.

    Cheers,

I don't think the bezel has long enough crenelations. Clearly they need to be made pointier and sharper.

I didn't like the teeth on my E2DL (bought it b/c Surefire didn't have a similar light without the teeth. The teeth on this thing looks ridiculous, though the rest of the light looks nice...in a Jetbeam/Nightcore sort of way...

I agree. I like to be able to test meat with mine, and from a distance.
The Phaser: A nice EDC with great throw; heat and runtime can be issues.

Flashlight looks nice , but UI is useless IMHO, just imagine what You have to do to change from low to high and back to low, and how long will it take.

Actually it doesn't seem all that different than the Nitecore except it appears that: 1) there's no shortcut to instantly go to low or high and 2) when the brightest or lowest level is reached, the Nitecore stops whereas the Tiablo blinks and goes in the opposite direction.

    ...that's assuming I interpreted correctly

Wow, that looks very nice. The lumens claim is very high for a 1xAA light, as is the length. But I don't know what Tiablo was thinking with the glass-breaking head. I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that for me, crenelated heads are for looks and so you can tell it's on when placed head down. Something this spiky is just inconvenient.

I don't like the teeth either but like it otherwise. So ordered one up and will take pictures and post some sort of mini-review when I get it. If it gets brighter then my D10 with 14500 then I will be happy. I sure don't think it is going to do 230 lumens though. Seems to me for 1 cell, the beam out of a Q5 Extreme or PD20, etc. is about as good as it gets.

I'm sure 230 lumens is with a 14500 Li-Ion cell. I'd think more like 180 Lumens with NiMH, possibly lower.

Not worried about the crown, could come in handy in a self-defense situation . Like the lumens (if its not overrated) and the different modes. Looking forward to see some owner comments/reviews.
