You all were so helpful in your light suggestions that I thought I'd better ask about battery opinions. I am going to try some rechargeable CR123s for my Surefire 6P with a Malkoff M60 upgrade. Please post links since I'll also need to know where to purchase suggested items.

Thanks,

Bill

That definitely seems to be the most popular combo here (I have the same battery/spacer/charger combo)! I spent a good bit of time researching to figure out the best and I wish I had found a post with the answer given above. Save yourself some time and go with that option!

OK...I tried to get in on the group order for the Pila charger even though it was supposed to close at noon. So...spacers are used how for charging the batteries?

Thanks,

Bill

Take a look at some of the photos in this post.

The Pila charger has two bays that can accommodate cells of 18650 or similar lengths. The 2nd and the 3rd photos from the link above showed a couple of 14500 cells with an OEM spacer installed on the charger. RCR123 cells are even shorter and will require additional spacers that are not part of the Pila charger package. AW sells these spacers with the protected li-ion cells.

Hope that helps.

With Aloha,

Clarence

Hey seatown7. :welcome:

I just got finished charging 2 AW RCR123 with those spacers on my Pila for my 6P with M60. You've got a great setup of flashlight and LED and I'm sure you'll be happy with the batteries and charger. Have fun!

Can a Surfire P6 with the 18650 extender run the 2200 mAH batteries or can it only handle the 1500mAH

Newbie: Will 2 CR123 at 750 mAH mean a total of 1500 mAH?

What is the difference between a CR123 and a RCR123?

Huh? What does battery capacity have to do with the size of the host? I am confused...

Newbie: Will 2 CR123 at 750 mAH mean a total of 1500 mAH?

IIRC (been a while since I did my electronics course) connecting in series increases voltage but not Ah capacity whereas connecting in parallel increases Ah capacity but not voltage. So 2xCR123 @ 750 mAh in series = 6V, 750 mAh while 2xCR123 @ 750 mAh in parallel = 3V, 1500 mAh.

What is the difference between a CR123 and a RCR123?

CR123 = primary (non rechargeable) battery

RCR123 = rechargeable battery

If you need more info, you should check out the batteries forum. You will probably get some more expert advice there.
