I have a Dive Rite Mr11 HID light head in need of an upgrade.
The owner wants LED's. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Options
Single P7/ MCE with reflector

triple/ quad CreeQ5/R2's with optics

Other?

Anyone got any links to a preferred set up?
Beam shots?

I think 10 deg max beam angle is the goal.

Has anyone used the Cutter 3 or 4 LED MR11 board? How are the LEDs wired? Series, parallel series parallel?
Any DX or KD MR11 optics?

I bought a couple of the 4 degree MR11 quad optics from Cutter's. I used Cree R2's driven at 1100 and am completely disappointed in them. I have several triple Q5's with DX reflectors that have a tighter spot.
I don't recommend the quad optic route.

I think you would be happier with a P7 and reflector.

They have a diffuser that softens and spreads it too wide. Definitely not the 4 degree beam promised. Waited over a month and a half for them. Totally useless for what I needed. If you get what I did, it will be worthless for a dive light.

Based upon what I see in those photos had the optics I received functioned in a similar fashion I would have been able to use them. As they are, they are good for a desk lamp and nothing more.

Hey Packhorse,

Did you successfully mod this MR11 light? Got any details?

Also, maybe a moderator could move this thread into the Dive Lighting forum.
