Are there any other Surefire or aftermarket heads that will fit and work on a Surefire A2 Aviator body?

Is there a Surefire Lego/parts compatibility chart somewhere that lists all of the possible combinations of Surefire parts?

Thanks DaFABRICATA.

Now, same question for the SF L1 please.

I'm ignorant  but I am trying to do something about that :grin2:

The L1 has the LED driver in the body, so only the surefire L1 head will work with it. It is not lego compatible unless you get another head that is stripped of its electronics and running direct drive

Maxspeeds, thank you.

So, since my ignorance is on a roll... Would a KL1 or Optics HQ TLS head set up direct drive work on an L1 body? And, will an L1 handle an RCR123 battery?

I know the KL1 has the led converter board built into the head. And, I believe the optics planet does as well. Those heads are meant for e-series bodies (bodies with no converter boards). If you are going to use those heads, get yourself an e1e or e2e body.

L1 body goes with L1 head :D

down the road from Pleasure Point.
Don makes a beautiful dummy Mule head for the L1 for a flood light.

The A2/L1 body is the E-series, yes?

In which case, you can find an E2C adapter and run with a C/G/P/Z bezel - not quite as sleek, but very functional.

No - the A2, L1/L2 are not E-Series.
The "E2C" adapter will not fit.

Most E-Series have "E" in the model number except the L4 and the ScoutLights:
E1, E2, E1e, E2e, E2o, E2D,
E1L, E2L,
L4
E1B, E2DL
M600A, M600B, M600C

I think an E2C adapter will fit on the L1 as the threads are E-series compatible, but you must run heads on it with NO drivers - Direct Drive only!

I use L1 bodies on my E-series bodies all the time, but E-series heads have insides made to stop them being physically threaded onto EL Ones. Even though the threads are compatible, the battery contacts of the L1 and E-series heads are different to keep you from fitting an E-series head to an L1 body. If you do strip all electronics and the plastic blocking bits out of a KL1, KX1, or other E-series bezel, then they will fit on an L1.

You must be familiar with what you have and what works with what. I took (had Milky mod) the electronics out of an L1 body and bore it like an E1 body for a 17500 & so E-series heads fit, even with the plastic L-blockers, and now I can run ANY E-series head on it. I have a KX2 on it from time-to-time.

In summary, you can only have ONE driver on one body-head combination.

Of course, If you want to make a new head for the A2, then I'm sure some people would be interested...

...MC-E 2S2P DD on 6V would be underdriven, but still?

It does seem odd that nothing else would fit on it.

Here is a partial list for Surefire lights.

Dedicated head, regulator in body:
A2, L1, L2

Dedicated head (by input voltage), regulator in head:
L4, L5, L6, E1B, E2DL, E1L/KX1 (2007 & later), E2L/KX2 (2007 & later)

Flexible head (1 or 2 cells), regulator in head:
KL1 (Luxeon head), E1L (Luxeon), E2L (Luxeon)

I think that we need to make a comprehensive Surefire compatibility table with a sticky somewhere.

+1, I think a good review can be found here
be sure to reference the "tailcap thread" in with it as well

L1 head fits on E2 body for direct drive on primaries to result in E2DL'ish output with a wider hotspot.

dont use RCR's though ;)
