I want to cut a hole on the side of my computer and stick in two matrix like green colored CCFL tubes inside. I heard these were easy to install. Anyone CPF members done this to their computers?

You will have to install a piece of plastic or glass in the hole so you can see inside, but not disrupt the venting or expose hazards(go figure, a P3 fan can give you a nasty cut(happened to me before)).

one of my favorite surplus joints bgmicro has some 12" ccfl tubes
available for modding here
i've ordered quite a bit from them in the past, always been satisfied with their product and service. They even called me once when they noticed I had made a mistake entering my address and it was different from where they had shipped before. Saved having to track down a misaddressed order!
