I've been busy with my cameras. All images unadulterated, no image filters/editing. Pics are resized to 800 x 600, that's it.

Some pics with a polarizing filter on the lens.

Some ice and frost formations taken a sunny day some weeks ago when ice skating on the lakes. It was fantastic 20cm thick glass clear ice. You could see fish swimming under your feet when skating close to the shore.
Formations are 10-15cm.
I used a cheap pentax optio.

Yup, you were near or in Fanconia Notch in the proximity to where I grew up and where I now often hike. When they first started posting those signs, maybe 15-20 years ago, they used to attach an ever increasing number like 92 collisions, 123 collision, etc. but finally they just had to go to hundreds. What in the world brought you up to Littleton? To visit Walmart and look for flashlights?

NICE pics! Love those ice/frost formation pics. Nothing like a clear blue sky on a winter day - except that typically means lower temps! Just looking at these...I can feel the cold air as I breathe in through my nose! Oh wait, I just need to go out the door for that! :ohgeez:

Hey guys, where's the mountains in those pics? :poke:

Going up the tower of power with my wife for a nice Valentines Day coffe with chocalate cookies......

The view from that tower is pretty good.

Lots of people doing winter activities on lakes and so on.

Wow. What fantastic pictures! I know I'm a cityboy at heart but I have never seen the like of those icy twigs and branches before. What an incredibly beautiful and terrible thing.

All I have to offer is the deepest snow we've had in The Heart of London, England, for over twenty years. Lots of disruption and travel chaos, many people couldn't get to work etc. ( sadly I work from home!) But altogether lovely. Hope we get some more next winter.

I think the kids will remember this one!

Ho ho ho, seems like Christmas.

Stefan - Lovely photo's, especially the water tower. I've just finished working on the English version of 'Wallander', and Sweden is portrayed as a hauntingly lovely place. One day I will visit. Even in winter!

I must say your underground bunker is a very beautiful place. And it is not so secret anymore. I see your fence! :)

mountains? Nope, not here... just snow and cold. I think Gille and Stefan are further north than me, though. Bret
We actually live further south, but there are more mountains here than in Finland.
I went snowboard hiking today on a small mountain 10km from home. It was fantastic. You do not get days like this very often. (not me in the picture btw)

As it's sunday this series starts at a church. It's quite old.

Looking out through the antique lead framed glass at the snowy graveyard. The glass panes are irreplaceable. One nice thing about good quality glass is that it lasts for many centuries, maybe millenia.

P21511331.jpg

When the weather is clear it gets very cold at night and complex ice crystals form on plants etc. The crystals only last for a few minutes when the sun hit them.

At the bird preserve on the edge of town. A favourite spot for many on a fine winter sunday.

There's even some prepared sites for building fires/barbecue on the preserve. -11C in this pic..

Gossamer ice crystals formed during the night by a breeze from the lake. Butterflies of ice.
