Hi all,
I know many people like clicky flashlights more than twisties, because clickies are faster to operate and they need only one hand.

I was wondering some way to make the twisty activation faster and I tought: why don' t twisties work like this:

- you rotate the head a quarter turn and you turn the light on at the low setting;
- you rotate the head another quarter and you switch to medium;
- you rotate the head a quarter once again and you have high mode and so on...

so why don't twisties work like this? I'm referring to very small flashlights like AAA' s (bigger flashlights work with clikies... )...

p.s.: I was not sure where to post this thread, but I tought this was the best place..

That type of interface is more complicated. There are a few lights (like the Sf Titan) which are continuously variable like that. Slightly more common are lights with selector rings which function as you describe. The SF U2, Dosun, and Fenix TA30 work like that.

That's exactly how the Ra Twisty works but of course it is a CR123 light with a 1" diametre. I'm guessing the AAA form factor would be a challenge to make this kind of UI work.
