I just received a bare aluminum Extreme Micro from Mike and it is very bright and tiny. Here are some picture of it among other CR2 lights:
It has a great feel with smooth threading and a snug O-ring seal. It's surprisingly easy to operate one-handed given the diminutive size (1.79" long with a Panasonic CR2 turned just off), and 0.749" dia (JiL - 0.785").
The EM is a featherweight as well at 14.15 gm, weighing just a bit more than the cell it carries at 11.01 gm. The JiL by comparison is 17.46 gm.
Here are some beamshots with the EM at left running an Energizer E2 CR2, and the JiL Flupic at right, powered by an 3.7V RCR2. The first shot is at F3.5, 1/20 sec and is a bit darker than what my eyes recall. The second shot is underexposed, F3.5, 1/100 sec. White balance was set to sunshine and the lights 1m from a white wall.
Lux readings @ 1m were 330 for the JiL, and 510 for the EM.
In operation the EM gets warm in a few minutes, but the JiL FluPIC RCR2 gets warmer much faster. I would feel comfortable using the EM for extended periods given I hold the light in hand and wick away excess heat. But left unattended I imagine it will be too hot for its own good. For that useage I'd recommend the 350 mA version.
