Now that the new Extreme will have a R2 LED, I am wondering how
this will effect the performance. Brightness, run time, etc.?

I have read all the reviews on the forum for Extreme, and have the R2
on my wish list at 4Sevens, just dont know if I should pull the trigger,
or wait. What else is coming out to compete with this?

I love my D10, so thought I would buy a little nicer Nitecore light, but
maybe I should wait to see what else is around the corner?!

P.S. I cant just buy everything!! can I!!?? :paypal:

i've been roaming around the new nitcore line up myself. i'm likin' that r2 emitter. the rule of thumb is: if it looks good get it. if you waite for the next new light coming along you will never enjoy what is available now.
personally, i like that new NDI r2. for 4 bucks you get more lumin, more run time and maybe a better beam quality.

I thought the NDI had a Q5 WC!?
Have they changed that one too?

It's the NDI a little cheaper? why do you think it has a better beam

I am also wondering, how does the Ra clicky (tactile) compare with
the NDI and Extreme R2?

I know the Ra is like $50.00 more, is it worth it?

yes... they (4sevens), should have the new NDI r2's by 2/23/09.
the NDI is a little cheaper than the extreme but cost is really not the complete issue.
the beam "may be" better... can't say for sure if it will be. i think other things other than the emitter would have to be addressed for a "better" beam.... ie, reflector ......
nitecore really looks to be on the cutting edge of this LED thing.

OK, I put the NDI R2 in my wish list too :)

It says will be in stock on the 23rd, yikes! that's only tomorrow!

How "low" do you suppose low is on these 2 models?

I would like a nice low low for when I use it in the middle of the night
to check the thermostat because I woke up freezing (or sweating)
and I dont want to blind myself.
Also, I am always getting up at night to find something in my room,
so just a low light is what I need for that. But if I need to crank it
up for some reason, I want to be able to do that too!
That's why I like my D10 so much.

P.S. there needs to be a flashlight for every possible scenario in life!! :grin2:

New R2 D10 supposed to put out 145 lumen, and should be bit brighter than 130 lumen Q5 D10. Is this 15 lumen difference in high mode clearly noticable? Not really.

If you want to buy D10 for the first time, that's great news. If you already have one, I don't see any reason to buy. Of casue, if you really want another D10, that's your decision though.

As you know, I do have a D10 (Q5 LED). And I really would not expect
to see a difference if I bought a new D10 w/ the R2.

But I'm not looking to buy another D10, I'm looking at a Extreme or NDI
(or maybe a Ra clicky)!

Are you saying I would not see a difference between my D10 and a
Extreme R2? Hence, why bother?
That doesnt sound like advise from a flashaholic to me!! :)

The D10 is basically an NDI with diff. body and switch. Same beam & output.

The Nitecore Extreme is in a diff. class than NDI or D10 - 180 lumen on CR123 primary - a pocket rocket - better build IMO.

How come you got the D20 R2 instead?
Do you have a particular appliction for it, or just like the looks better?

i dought you would see much difference if both were set at similar output levels. the extreme will probably walk all over the d10 regardless....
sorry for the missleading advise....
i do think i want to try the NDI ui....
my favorite late night light at the moment is my NT 120P. now THAT is low.... i can not speak to the Ra clicky because my order has not arrived yet ... i am very pleased with the NT

You ordered a Ra clicky?
Do you mind if I ask, where did you buy, and how much?
Did you get the exec or tactile?

Sorry I'm nosy, but what does the Ra clicky have that the NDI does
not?

yes..... battery station...EDC executive... $99.00 plus shipping....i still do not have the clicky.

the difference between the two is more UI and personal preference i guess. i like a floodier beam as opposed to a spot or throw. clicky is made US, programable, and ergonomic with super long runtime in theory. what the clicky has that the extreme does not is name recognition and a fan base so to speak.

I have the Q5 Extreme and find the clip tears my pocket but perhaps i just need to loosen the clip but also i was more in the mood to spend around 77.00 then 92.00 since i want to have some money left for the 2 new edgetac lights.
