Hey Guys,

I removed the bezel and was adding some lube to the threads. I was trying to be as careful as possible, but the lens shifted under the o-ring.
This resulted in a small smudge on the inner lens.

I removed it thinking that worst case scenario, I could use some alchohol to remove the antireflective coating.

Anyway, the lens looks like crap now. I've tried warm water with soap, windex, alchohol...it looks fogged up.

Any recommendations on cleaning the lens? i don't care about the antireflective coating. If not, I gotta try and get a lens from Henry.

Thanks!

Ray

It's pretty simple to remove the AR coating. Rub it off with Flitz or Simichrome on your thumb.

Don't have any of those :sigh:

Will any household items do the trick?

Good heads up, don't clean lens with alcohol.

I've always just used soap and water then blot dry with a napkin, don't rub, blot.

Same method works great for CDs and DVDs.

Toothpaste is a no go :(

Rubbed some crest in with a cloth for a few minutes...nada!
I even put some crest on my dremel's polishing wheel, still nada!

I've found that these clean up really well with a fine microfiber cloth (the short fiber ones, not the long fibers, the long fibers leave lint).
Use them dry.

I have no idea how this will affect the AR coating, but it gets the lens nice and clear again :D
