Lux readings of all my lights(Update post 16)

Well you really got this into my "system"
So I got a luxmeter from DX and it arrived today.
I did some tests with my lights but not yet with fully charged batteries.

Im making a chart with the readings I got but here are some I measured with fully charged Duracell 2650mh.

Tested 5mins after full charge.

Nitecore D10 @ 1m : 1300lux
Nitecore DI @ 1m : 1250lux
LedLenserP5 @ 1m : 4000lux on spot :poke:

Will update the chart as soon as the li-ions get charged

BTW , MTE P7-D with the li-ion charged 1week ago measured on high 4500lux...

Regards,

Here are some "pre chart" values:

Led Lenser P3 Spot Alkaline 250lux
Led Lenser P3 Flood Alkaline 95lux
Led Lenser P5 Spot Nimh 4000lux
Led Lenser P7 High Spot Nimh 7500lux
Led Lenser P7 Turbo Spot Nimh 10500lux
Led Lenser P7 High Flood Nimh 160lux
Led Lenser P7 Turbo Flood Nimh 230lux
Fenix E01 Alkaline 50lux
Fenix L0D Medium Nimh 110lux
Fenix L0D Low Nimh 40lux
Fenix L0D High Nimh 310lux
NDI Q5 high Nimh 1400lux
NDI Q5 high li-ion 1550lux ?
N D10 Q5 high Nimh 1350lux
N D10 Q5 high li-ion 1600lux ?

Its only missing the MTE but the 18650 is taking too long to get charged lol

The valus that have the "?" are the ones I was expecting more... very strange values for the li-ions.

Do you happen to have the DX SKU? Thanks.

05100

It was also the first thing I bought at DX that took less then 15 days to get here.. very nice this time :twothumbs

Anyone here has experience with this luxmeter? Im comparing my values with lights-review.com and all my values are a bit under... specially on the Nitecores on 14500

Different lightmeter of the same brand may produce different lux readings, particularly with LED lights as most lightmeters are setup for incandescent readings. Different brands may really show different readings for the same light. Use your light meter for comparisons between your lights, and do not expect your readings to be the same as others people Lux measurements with their lights, or published advertized Lux readings. See the sticky Lightmeter Benchmark Testing CPF style in Electronics, batteries included Forum here on CPF.

Now all you need is an empty milk carton and some tin foil to build a light box. Here's a link

Interesting. That would really separate the MTE from the small P5 lol
Im getting the same readings on both lights and we cant compare how much light both produce.

Still the P5 is a very nice light I only got it yesterday at same time as the luxmeter.

I still have a P6 and a P14 to test lovecpf

Fenix lights are getting expencive around here... probably too much comparing to Led Lenser and Nitecore.

DX luxmeter is known to show lower values than most of the other luxmeters.

It seems to be like that but I still cant understand the fact that the nitecores on li-ions are not even 10% brighter.

Probably bad 14500s?

Not sure but maybe the Nitecore is able to regulate with one LiIon so output would be essentially the same, or close to it, or other wise the Nitecore would go into direct drive and you would see much higher lux numbers.

Finally the P14 arrived.
Also a H7 came with the pack and the new LL P7 too.

Led Lenser P7(200lm) High Flood Nimh 190lux

Led Lenser P14 Turbo Spot Nimh 20000lux
Led Lenser P14 High Spot Nimh 15000lux
Led Lenser P14 Turbo Flood Nimh 230lux
Led Lenser P14 Low Spot Nimh 700lux
Led Lenser H7 High Spot Nimh 5000lux
Led Lenser H7 High Flood Nimh 270lux
Led Lenser P3 Spot Alkaline 250lux
Led Lenser P3 Flood Alkaline 95lux
Led Lenser P5 Spot Nimh 4000lux
Led Lenser P7 High Spot Nimh 7500lux
Led Lenser P7 Turbo Spot Nimh 10500lux
Led Lenser P7 High Flood Nimh 160lux
Led Lenser P7 Turbo Flood Nimh 230lux
Fenix E01 Alkaline 50lux
Fenix L0D Medium Nimh 110lux
Fenix L0D Low Nimh 40lux
Fenix L0D High Nimh 310lux
NDI Q5 high Nimh 1400lux
NDI Q5 high li-ion 1550lux
N D10 Q5 high Nimh 1350lux
N D10 Q5 high li-ion 1600lux

Although the new Led lenser P7 scores less lux on spot , on flood has a better wall of light and the beam on spot is better then the old version because is more round.

Art, you reading are taken at one meter? Don't be offended, just asking. I did not say this before, but congratulations on having a lightmeter. A lightmeter should be in the hands of all CPF'ers, as well as a DMM. That said, my Meterman LM631 is acting up, and worthless now, and I used it every day, almost.

My theory:

If the D10 has a boost-only regulator (which it probably does if Li-ion compatibility isn't advertised), then using 1x14500 will direct drive the LED. Now if the LED has a very high forward voltage, it's not going to draw much current in a DD configuration compared to an average emitter. But when you go back to 1.2V NiMH, the driver hides that from you if it's a proper constant current driver. Nitecore is a quality manufacturer and I would assume their circuitry is properly regulated.
