longest regulated runtimes?

I'm looking for a low-output light with the longest possible runtime. 10 lumens is fine, and I do not want multiple levels. just one long-running light. Oh and it must be 100% waterproof.

and I do not want multiple levels

Problem is, there are very few single mode lights which are made for that level of brightness for mega runtimes. The vast majority are multiple modes.

Why not multiple modes? If it's a good UI, you never have to EVER use them, but they are nice to have if you do ever need them.

However, the Fenix E01 comes to mind for a long regulated single mode light.

Maybe something like a Terralux TLE-10 in a MiniMag.

Tint would probably be luck of the draw. It's "regulated", but you can see from the review that the discharge isn't flat. That runtime curve would probably look longer and flatter with lithiums or NiMh cells. It's rated at 25 lumens, but if you follow the formula on flashlight reviews to approximate actual lumens--Overall output number times 1.39, it gives you 7.91x1.39=10.99 lumens.
$7.99 at Lighthound.com, plus 3.95 for a Terralux tailcap switch(don't know if this compromises waterproofness or not).

I got handed a new red MiniMag in the package as I was leaving work this morning, and have been looking at different drop-ins just now, though I was thinking of something just a little brighter:D

How much run time do you want - 100, 500, 1000, 5000 hours?

Like Marduke already suggested, it sounds like you are describing the Fenix E01. It might not quite make 10 lumens, but it's close.

One of those programmable lights? I've already forgotten which they are.

I know you said you didn't want multiple levels but you could adjust the Nitecore D10 at any low level you want and leave it there....it will always go to that one level of light you have chosen! One of the best overall lights I've ever owned!!!

I seem to recall Doug P. doing some reviews on his website "Flashlight Reviews" on something called a Lightwave 3000 (3 C cell/7 led light) and a Lightwave 4000 (3 D cell/10 led light). Check them out at the links below. I'm almost positive they are not manufactured anymore, although I have seem them on ebay from time to time, somewhere in the $30 to $60 range. I think they were suppossed to run for up to a month (constant run time) and best I recall, he used them during a rather lengthy power outage following a snowstorm on N. Carolina, or something like that. He seemed to b quite impressed with them. :grin2:

Not waterproof but 100 hours from a 1xAA CMG Infinity. Not sure of the lumens but comparing it to my Fenix that runs at 10 on low, I'd say the Infinity is 4 or 5 lumens.

The Mag host + Nite Ize 10mm drop-in is probably your best bet; CPFer BigWaffles tested one of these in a 3D Mag with plain alkaline cells, it ran for 90 hours before it began to notably dim. No modes, no unique interface, just a plain Mag with plain batteries, a total build cost (including the Mag) of ~$30.

See it here: http://www.niteize.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=127

(The 90 hour figure is with only 3 D cells, so the larger the Mag, the more runtime you'd get. A 4 D would break 100 hours, a 6D would be over 150 hours..)

Too bad it's only regulated for about 12-14 hours, and runtime to 50% is only about 18. After that is strictly moon mode.
