I´m going to buy single AA light to wear on my belt toghter with my Leatherman Wave at work. I have own a Fenix LD01 and a LD20 now, and I´m very happy with them both. I want to try out Nitecore, but I´m not sure which AA light to buy. Fenix LD10 or Nitecore D10?

Any recommendations

The LD10 will operate exactly like your LD20, and have the exact same brightness levels except for turbo.

If you want, you can purchase the 1xAA body for your LD20 and have both lights in one then.

I know, but then I need to buy a holster that fits LD10 also. Does the D10 come with holster?

Sorry the D10 does not come with a holster. The D10 is my favorite light. Bright and tiny with silent piston action. I own a LD20 which sits at my bedside. The LD20 is also amazing but I like my Nitecore D10 for EDC.

I'm kind of partial to the Olight T-15. I've been edc'ing it for over a year and I have no complaints.

This thread didn´t make my decision any easier... :)

It is LD10 vs. D10

I'd say at this point you might want to wait for the new NiteCore EZAA to come out from 4sevens. Of course it might be a month before you have one in hand.

You miss the point of CPF. For the most part we are here to help you spend money not save it. The official CPF answer is always "Buy Both"
:naughty:

It is LD10 vs. D10

Well that makes it easier then.

LD10:
Pros:
- Best efficiency on all levels
- You know exactly what level you are on and can predict runtimes
- Can always come on in Low or High if you like.
- CR123 and 2AA body available separately
- Lockout tailcap
Cons:
- Lack of a Low Low
- Clicky switches are never super reliable
Other:
- Strobe and SOS in the sequence
- Reverse clicky

D10:

Pros:
- Lots of levels to choose from. (sort of)
- Pretty Low Low
- Has a momentary on mode
Cons:
- Not as efficient
- Can't pick a specific level anyway
- Small self drain when off, when left in clicky mode
- Requires periodic maintenance on piston to keep it running smoothly
- Will forget any favorite intermediate level as soon as you use high or low.
Other:
- No Strobe and SOS
- Will always come on at last level used.
- Semi Lockout (momentary still works)

Conclusion:
BUY BOTH!

:welcome:

I can't believe I missed this. If you already have a LD20, buy a single AA body for it at the same time as you buy the D10. I think bodies are around $12, get a battery cap too.

The other surefire way to make a decision between two lights is to use the wife test. Here is how it works:

Buy both lights and say: Honey I bought a light for you and me but they are each different. Try both and pick which one you like. She will ALWAYS pick the one you secretly wanted the most even if you didn't know it.

See this thread EZAA. Wait a week to decide.

The idea of simply buying the Fenix 1AA tube for your LD20 is a good idea. If you don't like it you can get the other NC (I don't like it but many LOVE it).

The EZAA looks nice! The size is very simlar til LD01 with clickie switch... I should have waited and get the EZAA instead og my LD01...

Cave Dave: I'm actaually thinking of buying both - I'm addicted! :grin2:

No the LD01 is a classic, you have to have one of those. It's slimmer and more levels as well.

I learned that the EZAA have twist switch. Then I like my LD01 better.

I still like the D10, but what I didn't like is that it drain battery when not in use (even tough i take 400 days to drain a AA battery). But what I do like is the piston design switch. I think I will end up buying both. Starting with the LD10 because I need a belt pouch.

I use the Nitecore D10 and Leatherman Surge everyday at work,
and neither has failed me ever.
+1 for D10
