i've seen people mention different colored photons and say things like "the yellow is a good color and has a longer run time" or "the turquoise is a good choice in any photon model".

what's the difference and uses for the different colors? run time is not a factor as they're high to begin with.

take a look at this thread:

LED Colors and Vision (pics)

As for runtime factors - 120 hours for the yellow, orange and red vs. 10-12hours for all other colors (see specs at the Photon site), I think is significant.

I think it's significant as well. Since this Photon I'm purchasing is only a backup to a backup, I wanted the most possible burntime as possible. I'm not looking to use the yellow photon on any regular basis.

i hadn't noticed the yellow had such a huge run time over the others. i still don't think it's that big a deal. when my photon goes dim i'll just replace the batteries. it's been 2 years now and so far so good.

thanks for the info.
