Question: Dropins for TK11

Are there any drop-ins for the Fenix TK11 flashlight that is brighter than the R2 version?

If so what is the price?

Unless you count sending it to milky as a drop in don't think there is one imho.

A dropin means an emitter assembly that can be easily swapped in and out of a light. Many SureFire lights and MagLites can take dropins to replace the stock bulb.

However, the TK11 has a sealed head. There is no dropin for the TK11 because the emitter assembly cannot be removed. Though it may be possible to swap the R2 emitter for an MC-E to get more lumens at the expense of beam quality, such a mod would have to be done by someone who is good at disassembling lights and mounting/soldering small objects.

Short answer: You're pretty much stuck with what you've got...

The TK11 R2 is a terrific piece of illumination engineering with two great settings and a fabulous throw. Why would you want to mess with a good thing? Get a SureFire 9P for a good start and mod it. I just bought a couple of R2 drop ins from DX for the 9P and a 3G and what a difference they made with 9 volts juicing them.:huh::duh2::thumbsup:

If you've seen some pictures of the Fenix and other similar lights, you'll notice that there is no easy way to remove the light engine. There are no drop-ins available and the R2 flux bin of the Cree XR-E LED is currently the highest flux bin available for their single die setup. There's nothing easy that you can do to make it brighter, as if what you have isn't very bright already.

Also the DX's "R2" drop-in probably doesn't use a real R2 flux bin and the drive current is pretty constant meaning that 6v and 9v shouldn't make much of a difference in output.

I need your explanation at this. Is this your guess or is there any evidence that backs this up? If yes, please tell me. If you know a specific R2 drop-in that in fact do not use R2, please specify so that we can avoid it.
