Yes - DX MC-E drop in .
+ The mini L2 body must be the new one , works well with single RCR123A .
I like it soooo much , Im tempted to buy a mini L2 ..

That way I have a Mini L2-R2 / a L2 R2 / and a L2 MC-E .

very nice... rockin' little setup...
~350 Lumens for just under $50. You could spend a lot more and gotten a lot less.

Kudos!!

L2 - R2 from Solarforcestore
L2 mini body from KD
MC-E drop in from DX ...

Quick feed back - Very impressed with the Solarforce / Both .
The mini body just :twothumbs

The MC-E drop in , not so impressed , current draw is around o.9mA to o.97mA , which is , quite low for a MC-E , does it have a 1 Amp driver ????

DX sais 2800mA on Hi , im getting 1000mA if that ?? Thats just whack ! :thumbsdow

Looks like it will need to go back , its just not right ... Sorry , in 18650 Body , havent tried it in the mini body as yet .

I'm hoping my 18650 Solarforce L2 will be in the mailbox tomorrow.
I was really hoping it would have been here last Friday so I could have played with it this past weekend.

I want to order an 18650 L2 in gray. Then I'll be set for P60 hosts for awhile and can then just buy drop-ins instead of whole lights.

I haven't decided if I want an L2 mini yet.

looks great! I got that drop in from DX too, but im running that in an Ultrafire 18650 host (prefer the feel and also the longer runtime) but that mini L2 body looks great, very EDC-able.

FYI, the drop in is a 3 mode with no memory (as far as i can tell), works great with a reverse clicky. High - Lo - fast Strobe

Ok -

Solarforce L2 Mini - R2

DX RCR123A - Hi o.92mA - Med o.58mA - Lo o.31mA
Ultrafire RCR123A - Hi o.84mA - Med 0.54mA - Lo o.27mA
Trustfire PRCR123A - Hi o.96mA - Med o.61mA - Lo o.31mA

MC-E drop in / 18650 Body
Ultrafire 18650 2400mA Protected - Hi 1.23A - Lo o.45mA

Mini L2 Light box 1 = 203Lux / Light box 2 = 11100Lux / throw 4500Lux

MC-E drop in , Light box 1 = 317Lux / Light box 2 = 17600Lux / throw 2500Lux

L2 mini is with my 3.7-4.2v R-2 pill .
And if you check the light box readings , the MC-E drop in puts out a fair bit of light .... 18650 L2 Body .

All light box readings are minimum , and throw is @ 1 meter .. Under current conditions !

Solarforce L2 R2 + Short body + MC-E drop in

I also ordered the L2 R2 5-mode + short body from Solarforce store recently with the intention of putting an MC-E in it. However, I've decided to wait for more MC-E drop ins to come out first since the reviews of the DX/KD one don't seem to be outstanding. Would like some more non-expensive choices here.

Yeah , I just felt the need :hitit:

I have some drivers that arrived as well , so Im going to see about swapping the drivers to see if I can get more current to the LED .

Ok here we go ...

Been swapping and changing drivers around .
SSC P7 Li-ion 5-mode driver SKU: S005025 over at KD / ProductId=1845

Ok , I put this driver into my SSC P7 - Bad Idea , tops out at 1.1Amp for some reason .

Took the driver from the SSC P7 and put it into the MC-E ,

Gave a boost in Amp but not enough to bother with .

Put SKU: S005025 into the MC-E and a nice boost in amp's and 5 mode's

!.43A with a 18650 Ultrafire
and on a CR123 its drawing up to 1.3A - Much a better than a stock .

Oh and for some reason ?? I killed both tail clickers ???

2 inside 30 seconds just stopped working [ Solarforce L2 ]
One is 100% dead , and the second is a POS now . Naa , didnt overload them , some sort of mechanical problem , they dont clicky anymore .
:ohgeez:

Some good news :

My DX RCR123A is down to 3.7v and current draw on Hi is still over 1.07A
Ok looks like it draws over 1Amp right up to 3.o1volts , and then drops to a much lower level and keeps on going , so killing batts should not be a problem .

I haven't been using my MC-E in the smaller L2M configurations since I was worried about pushing the 16340 too hard (since it's non-IMR) but it looks like it's at the top end of the safe rate for that cell. As well, the low mode looks alot more efficient than my other drop-ins so I wouldn't necessarily be stuck with runtimes of around 20-25 mins (as in high mode).

I have one of those MC-E drop ins from DX.
Total POS,when i turned it on it wasn't that bright to begin with and it made the room look like i was preparing for an alien autopsy.

After awhile the driver wouldn't work right.
With a fresh cell the emitter was getting only 500mA at best on high.
So i gutted it and wired it DD.
45-55min runtime with a protected 18650.
At least the first 20 min or so the thing is properly driven.

I wouldn't recommend that dropin to anyone.

maybe its the type of cells you're using.... its not pushing enough current at high demands

look into AW's IMR cells..... 16340 aka RCR123a and the IMR-18650

.
