Thank you for this information. It was what I asked in another thread and I found the answer here.

Your welcome ... Im really liking the Long , in fact I like all the L2's .
But the long looks like the bomb for run time and usable light .

Yeah I just got a L2-R2M with the extra 18650 extension. It's nice to have the extra power when I feel like I need it. I'm quickly loving this light!

I've only had the light for a few days and since I carry it in my jacket pocket I use only one 18650. That being said, when I've tried it with the extension, the light feels even more solid. If I'm in a situation where I would be using the light for hours on end, I'd use the extension for sure.

I'm a fan of the 2x18650 size light. The L2 extended does feel very comfortable in hand, maybe even more so than the single cell. I find the extra length provides extra grip.

What are your guys' opinion on 2x18500?

I like it. Many P60 drop ins are not very bright on a single LiIon. So for those of us who like rechargeable need to run LiIon batteries in pairs to get max brightness. For me 2 x18650 is just too big. 2 x R123 often produces very short runtime. IMHO 2 x 18500 is a good balance between size and decent runtime on high.

Is it brighter by using 2X18650 in serial than 1X18650? I guess it would be about the same for R2 bin or the difference is trivial.

For me, it makes more senses to use 2X18650 in parallel to get twice run time.

Just my $0.02:whistle:

Not sure about all drop-ins, but with mine on one cell it will begin to fade after an amount of time, 2 x Li-Ion seems to stay in regulation right up til the Li-Ion low voltage protection kicks in. Also, by using 2 in series, the current is reduced and I^2*R losses should be less possibly making an efficiency improvement.
