I was reading the Arc FAQ and in the LS version history it mentions ver. 2.1 added flex washer to fix flex failure. What is flex failure? Just a curious fella, I am. thanks for the forum. dtsoll /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The "flex failure" issue is now an official problem for this version. The symptoms are the light comes on initialy but further tightening causes the light to go out. Typically, this problem shows up early and gets worse. Eventually, the unit stops working completely. The problem has two possible causes, either the pcb is being pushed away from the ground (a poor ground issue), or the pcb is being flexed by the pressure of the battery which is causing the components to delaminate from the surface.
Their is no field fix. The sealed nature of the design prevents any repair. The remedy is to replace it with a new unit.
The units are sealed to protect our circuit and to provide some water resistance. Future units will be sealed as well (and water proof).
The long term fix for the series it to use a more rigid material for the battery plane while putting strain relief in the pcb plus change the orientation of the ground in relation to the pcb so that battery pressure increases contact.
This is covered under warranty of course, as is any other future unforseen problem.
