hi,
muilt die like MC-E and P7 make the pictures in the link above single die led such as cree 1 neat square with lots of throw
lots of single cree in say a 4 or 5 or 6 pattern, comet shapes bright in the middle with tails like the spokes of a cart wheel and all seperate hot spots not any good at all heres a link https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/218341
hope this helps DocD

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post.

An aspheric lens on a P7 or Cree MC-E quad die LED will produce a much larger hotspot than a single Cree R2 with an aspheric lens. You will still get good throw with a P7, but the beam profile will consist of four squares instead of one. I find the quad die version more useful flor closer applications. If you're after a super thrower go for the R2 aspheric.

If you want to try 3 XR-E's and 3 smaller aspheric lenses then the results are really nice when you line them up.

1 aspheric lens and multiple emitters or even a multi die emitter is pretty nasty IMO.

Find yourself a big head. Get 3 emitters. 1 heavy OP reflector, 1 6 degeree optic, and 1 aspheric lens. Line them all up and you have something that's tough to beat that covers the near, the far, and the in-between.

heh... the aspheric MC-E I tried out work pretty well with throw.. I'd say that it throws better than the A10G, but the A9 w/the aspheric beats the mc-e pretty well..

It's cool to see the quad beam in the air, though. :twothumbs

This is a photo I posted no too long ago.
It is a Mag 5 x Cree R2 plus a single aspherical lens

Not pretty is it :sigh:

You need an aspherical lens for each single die emitter.
If you search the Homemade and modified section, I remember someone
modding a dive light with multi-emitters and aspherical lens

If you had multiple emitters could they be mounted and aimed in such
a way, that they all converge into one beam, then go through the
aspheric?

Also, if you had a multi die emitter (say 4) with aspheric, would you
see all 4 clearly (maybe by turning the head to focus) in the beam?

Yes, you would see the 4 dies very clearly if focused correctly
kinda looks a window :)

Excuse my poor attempt at a beamshot :D

For the first question, a special optic might work, but I'm not sure how efficient it will be.

As for the second one, if you look at the beamshots, you'll see that the dies are clearly visible.

you get a comet tail type effect but the outer ring of leds would have to be at a slightly diffrent height, to get all the led at the same focus i try this about two or three months ago and it was all a bit Heath robinson, i think it might be worth a look again,

That sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure how to mount the 6 degree optic and aspheric lens underneath the glass of my Surefire M6. Although i might try this using a light OP reflector and 2 x AW C cells. Has anyone tried this yet?
