I just bought this Maglite off CPF member jasonck08 who installed the led, heatsink and glass lens. The cutdown and finning was done by Jesus. The quality of work exceeded my expectations. Thank-you to both of them. I know theres a lot of threads on these so I won't bore you with all the details.
Deep fins
SSC P7 DSWNJ direct driven
P7 with dyes lit up
Compared to my 3D Maglite
Lithium D cell from Kaidomain.com is slightly longer than a regular D cell. The charger is disappointing. It holds 1 D cell, is low quality, very slow, and mine was cracked and glued back together but the glue gave way the first time I put a D cell in it.
A completely focused beam gives you a doughnut shaped spot.
Defocusing the head a half turn gives you a better beam with few artifacts and doesn't comprimise throw noticably. 2.5 more turns gives you a great flood beam.
To wrap it up
Pros:
-Bright
-Focusable beam
-very comfortable size
-custom coolness
Cons
-1 mode (I don't mind)
-Head rattles slightly since the reflector is cut down theres no spring support to keep pressure on the threads
-some artifacts
