i ordered a clicky tailcap for my C2 today and it appears SureFire wants to charge me sales tax, even though I am not a California resident. Does California assess a sales tax to non-residents? If so, one cancelled order coming up.

SF does business in your state, so sales tax is assessed.

California residents are also assessed taxes for purchases made out of state ("Use Tax").

As a CA resident the only use tax that I have paid is on a car bought out of state. Some of my wife's online sales have been resulted in sales taxes but not all. Some items bought from dealers here on CPF such as Battery Station, Lighthound, and several others are not taxed. No use tax has been imposed on us by CA on out of state online sales, as we have been either levied a CA sales tax, or not taxed at all.
