I have a SureFire E1L that was given to me a couple of years ago, which I have loved. It has a KL1 head (non-ribbed), which I think is the most recent version of the KL1.

Unfortunately, while working on the daughter's car last weekend, I dropped it, it bounced just wrong, and now is dead. The plastic piece at the positive battery contact is loose, and looks like it's broken. I have not yet figured out how to open up the head to do any further diagnosis, so I'm kinda stuck with it.

I have posted a WTB on the forums here - http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=195597 - but, I'm starting to get curious what else I could do with my light.

Any good ideas about a beginner's mod that I could take a look at?

Do you mean buy a new head, or try and get one under warranty? Seems like it would not be covered, since I dropped the light on blacktop.

it should be covered...basically, the light should have survived the drop...now if you "threw it on the ground", that would be a different story...
