Hi all,

A colleague of mine saw me using my AEX25 Xenide during work and seemed to quite interested in getting one until I mentioned the price. I figured that anybody who seeks out a new light should not be turned away. So I ask him what exactly was he looking for. Here is his wish list,

1. A respectable amount of output, I figured maybe 800-900 lumens since his exact words were, "Powerful... Maybe not as much as yours (AEX25)"

2. Rechargeable with the capability of changing spare batteries in an uncomplicated manner, with a runtime of about 2 hours per battery module

3. Flood type

4. Size is not really an issue (something as long/huge as the Xenide is fine, I think what he meant was as long as it's portable)

5. Hopefully under $100

I concluded that a light that fulfills 1-4 and still costs $100-ish can only be LED so I decided to post this in the LED section. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Rechargeable, 900 lumens under $100..humm thats a tough one.

I would suggest getting a light that can use rechargeable battery's like the 18650 size battery's and a charger.

Here is just three example's of some good lights. The Olight M30 would be more portable or easy to carry around. Two of these are over $100 but better quality.

I agree with drillbritz2ov. If size is not an issue, under $100 the best option imho is the Solarforce L950M.

Many thanks for the suggestions. It seems that the Solarforce L950M is quite a competent package. The EagleTac M2X that jhc37013 mentioned seems to be an interesting choice, though stretching my colleague's budget a little. Which brings me to this question, how does a single emitter light like L950M compare to a multiple one like the M2X, in terms of beam pattern, heat produced and runtime when run at identical lumens and I guess using similar set of batteries? So far I've only owned and used single emitter lights like the SF U2 and L1
