I finally came across another Arc-LS owner and was surprised by the color of his unit.
(I've tried three rewrites and I still can't make this NOT sound dirty).

His was engraved LS1 and appeared to be clear or silver anodized. It wasn't shiny like chrome -- just a real even silvery gray.
I bought one of the LS seconds with the weird "grainy" anodizing and while those too were very light in color they were still more tan than silver.
And his had no graininess at all.
From the pictures of them that I've seen it did not look like a grey kit.
His tailcap was a twisty in the normal HA-III natural.
He said he bought it retail off of the web but not from Arc itself.
Has anyone else seen one like this?

My LS1 seconds (#3457) is very much as you described. In a direct comparison to my LSH-P, it looks absolutely grey. Did you happen to catch the number on his LS1?

I'll take a look at the number next time I see him.
Definitely not bead blasted.

actually, the body on mine looks *exactly* like the modded Arc LS seconds that ufokillerz just put up for sale on B/S/T. The body is very grey... just like that one.

Could be just the picture but ufokillerz' still looks basically tan to me.
The one I saw was bare aluminum silver (but it wasn't bare aluminum).

I just pulled out an older LS 1xAA case. It's definitely silvery grey, not green. I suspect what you've seen is a second with HA that's lighter than Arc's "standard." Many earlyier Arc seconds had HA color missmatches between parts. What's interesting is that the unit you saw appears to have the individual casing colors matched.
