JetBeam RRT-2 Raptor beamshoot comparison

These beamshoots are from my RRT-2 Raptor review Google translated, but because this review is in danish it is not included here.

Here I will compare the RRT-2 with the following lights: Dereelight CL1H V4, Fenix TK11, JetBeam TiM R2, OLight M20 Warrior, JetBeam RRT-2 Raptor, JetBeam RRT-1 Raptor, Fenix TK20, OLight M30 Triton, Fenix TA30.

BrightnessMax.png

This graph shows total light output on max.. Both TK20 and CL1H has a warm led, that is a bit lower in output, TK20 is also limited by batteries. M30 is a quad die led and has the absolute highest output, but as can be seen later, not the best throw.

Brightness.png

Combining all the different brightness settings in a log graph and it is easy to see the different in max. and min. and how the jumps are spaced (Equal distance means equal visual impression). The RRT-1 and RRT-2 has about the same visual jump between low and medium as between medium and high, other lights has a visual larger jump from low to medium that from medium to high. The TiM can be adjusted to anything between min., max. and strobe on its "low" settings.

BrightnessLux.png

The combination of a highly focused light and a high light output gives a light with very good throw. On the above graph I have measured the lux at the center of the beam at a distance of 4 meters. RRT-1 easily outthrows all the other lights. Looking only at lights with small reflector, the RRT-2 has the best throw, the quad die M30 does not have much throw.
Note: My new super thrower DEFT will be about 900 in the above graph.

This light has a fixed high setting and a setting than can be adjusted to anything between min. and max. This light also exists in a more normal version called Jet-III M.

Wow, this has to be one of the best comparisons that I've seen so far. Your graphs really spell it out. Thanks for all the info and great beamshots. I just recently bought a TK20, puts up a pretty darn good fight against the higher powered lithiums.

Thanks for all your time and effort you put into this!!! I have a couple of these lights and it was very interesting to see how they stacked up. A really fine job!!!!

Thanks for the great job, I have a RRT-2, and did have fun with the UI, and its really a thrower, from your outdoor shots, the rings look not noticeable, that let me feel better:)

Great job. I have gone back a couple of times to look at these. One question though. You said all tests were done with a 18650? Don't some of the lights take other batteries(TA30, TK20 and the M30)?

Edit: I'm assuming you are saying if the light takes either 2 CR123's or 1 18650, you used the 18650? Makes sense now and I think I answered my own question.
Thanks again.

I just picked up the TK20 and have to say that the warm tint is very nice. Yeah, its a bit focused kinda like the SL PP 4AA but with better throw and spill.

Oh, BTW, there is no such thing as a too warm or yellow LED in my book. LOL

Light itself has a good solid feel to it, especially when wearing gloves. Not quite EDC size, but usable.

HJK....you beamshot comparrisons continue to impress me. Well done as always. Looking at all these pictures, I am really kicking myself for selling my TK20. I know that human eyes can see things even better than a good camera, but looking at these shots it is amazing how each blade of grass really shows up in the TK20 beamshots. I wish it had one more level...was a little brighter and maybe just a smidge cooler beam...but outdoors...and for solid feel in the hand...the light really does stand apart from the crowd.

I don't get something, the TA30 is like what, 230 lumens? The TK20 is 150 lumens. Almost 100 lumens less, and the TK20 seems to be brighter and more focused. Can anyone explain?

Thank you
