SF KL3 optic work with updated emittor?

Hello,
The KL3 mods i've searched out show people using a reflector with a new emittor. Can anyone say / guess how the stock optic will work with an updated emittor? or is it stuck with the luxeon.
Any comments on the SF KL3 (gen 1) optic?

Thinking back, and havin owned a gen1 KL3, the optic was the NX05. There were not many lumens coming out of the KL3. The later move to a Lux III emiter and the TIR optic made a big difference in output. Interesting that SF did not change the lumen rating from the original 17 lumens.

The original NX05 would probably not work with the Cree. The beam pattern is much different than the Luxeon. I think that SF is using TIR's specifically designed for the Cree LED.
